SRINAGAR: Wife of the slain special police officer (SPO) of Jammu and Kashmir police who was injured after unknown gunmen attacked a cop at his home in Hariparigam area of Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday succumbed to her injuries.

A police official said that unknown gunmen attacked the SPO Fayaz Ahmad at his home, and he died on the spot while his wife and daughter were critically injured in the attack.
The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital, where his wife succumbed to her injuries, he said, adding that the deceased has been identified as Raja Bano wife of Fayaz Ahmad.
He added that his daughter identified as Rafia Jan has been referred to Srinagar for specialised treatment. However, her condition is also stated to be very much critical.
Soon after the incident, a joint team of forces launched a hunt to nab the assailants, the official said.
