The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Food wing during a raid in Maharaja Bazar of Srinagar confiscated duplicate Verka Ghee from Noor Mohammad and Sons.
“The health officer SMC acted on a tip off received yesterday from a customer who complained that duplicate Verka Ghee supplied to general public and swiftly organised a raid along with a team of Food Safety Officers and Food Samplers at the premises of the above shop and confiscated duplicate VERKA GHEE bearing date of manufacture April 2013 Max retail Price Rs 380/ without Batch No,” reads a statement issued by SMC health officer to KNS.
It added that a case has been framed against the accused and challan has been produced in the Court of Municipal Magistrate Srinagar and the Food Safety Officers are making further investigations in the matter to find the source of the duplicate Ghee.
“General Public is asked to be cautious during purchase of above said product and verify Batch number date of manufacture and expiry.”
