SMC Seals Commercial Structure in Srinagar for Building Violations

   

SRINAGAR: In a measure to uphold building regulations in Srinagar, the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has sealed a commercial structure at Shah Mohalla Nawab Bazar for significant violations of approved building permission, a spokesman of the government said.

The action was taken on the directives of Commissioner SMC, Dr Owais Ahmed, and was executed under the strict supervision of the Enforcement Wing of SMC, ensuring compliance with established protocols. The structure was found to be in violation of guidelines set by the competent authority, highlighting the urgent need for adherence to legal building practices.

Reiterating the corporation’s zero-tolerance policy towards building violations, Commissioner Dr Owais Ahmed urged Srinagar residents to strictly comply with approved permissions and regulations. “This action serves as a clear message that the SMC is dedicated to enforcing compliance and safeguarding the interests of the community,” he stated.

He further emphasised that the SMC will continue to monitor construction activities across the city and take necessary actions against any infractions. Stressing the importance of maintaining the integrity of Srinagar’s urban landscape, he called upon the public to cooperate with established regulations.
