SRINAGAR: The higher reaches of North Kashmir have experienced substantial snowfall over the past 24 hours. Gulmarg and Gurez received nearly 15 inches of wet snow, with some higher altitudes recording accumulations of up to 2 feet.
In the plains of North Kashmir, Kupwara district was the most affected, with snowfall accumulation ranging between 1 to 4 inches. The higher reaches of Kupwara witnessed heavier deposits, reaching up to 1.5 feet of wet snow. Rainfall accompanied by a couple of inches of snow was also observed across several plains in the region.
Central Kashmir saw rainfall beginning yesterday afternoon, which gradually turned into snowfall during the evening. The plains in this region recorded snowfall ranging from 3 to 4 inches of wet snow.
In South Kashmir, Shopian was the most affected area, receiving approximately 4 inches of wet snow in the plains and up to 1 foot in higher altitudes. Parts of Pulwama reported snowfall varying between 1 to 3 inches in the plains.
Anantnag and Kulgam districts in South Kashmir experienced minimal snow accumulation in the plains, with amounts ranging from 1 cm to 1 inch. However, the higher reaches of these districts recorded up to 1 foot of wet snow. (Kashmir Weather)
