A 22-year-old army personnel was killed on Friday after a snow slide hit him in Nawa Uri area of north Kashmir.
According to an official, a 22-year-old porter belonging to army’s 4 Madras regiment was clearing the snow from a newly constructed road in Nawa when a snow slide hit him, resulting in the death of a porter identified as Shakeel Ahmed, son of Feroz-u-din, a resident of Ajgar Nawa, in Uri.
SDPO Uri Mehraj Din Raina confirmed the incident and said Shakeel along with other two porters were clearing the snow from a newly constructed road when the incident took place.
Meanwhile, police have taken the cognizance of the incident and a case was also registered.
