SRINAGAR: The 280-km-long Srinagar-Jammu national highway, connecting Kashmir valley with the rest of the country was closed for traffic on Saturday due to fresh snowfall and landslides triggered by rains.
A traffic police official said that Kashmir highway was closed due to landslides at Ramban and fresh snowfall at the Jawahar Tunnel of the highway.

“The traffic movement will be allowed after the road is cleared,” he said, adding that men and machinery have been pressed into the service to clear the road.
Meanwhile, Mughal Road was closed for traffic on December 8 following heavy snowfall in Peer Ki Gali and adjoining areas.
Reports of three to nine inches of snowfall was received from different parts of Kishtwar district, including Marwah (seven inches), Warwan (nine), Machail (seven), Ishtiyari (five) and Kishtwar, Paddar and Dachin (four inches each), the officials said.
