SRINAGAR: A Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel was killed and another injured after an official vehicle met with an accident at the Bailey Bridge in the Chadoora area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Friday, officials said.
Officials said the two SOG personnel were travelling in an official vehicle when it collided with the steel girder of the Bailey Bridge, leaving both critically injured.
They were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared one of them dead on arrival. The other is undergoing treatment.
The deceased has been identified as Tariq Ahmad, a resident of Hanjura, while the injured personnel has been identified as Riyaz Ahmad, officials said.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the accident. (JKNS)
