10-Day long workshop on Mathematics Training and Talent Search (MTTS) programme organised by Jammu and Kashmir Institute of Mathematical Sciences (JKIMS) concluded on Monday, an official statement said.

The programme was funded by National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM), Department of Atomic Energy, GOI.

“During the workshop resource persons for the programme were from various reputed national institutions who worked under the leadership of Professor G. Santhanam of IIT Kanpur. The other members of the team were Prof. D. Rishi from Punjab University, Prof.  S Reddy from Shiv Nadar University, Dr.  Vikram T. Aithal from Tata Institute of Fundamental Research,” the statement giving details said.

“As many as 43 students from various colleges of Jammu & Kashmir, besides some research scholars participated in the workshop.”

Prof. Santhanam, in charge of the programme lauded the State government especially Minister for Higher Education and Director, JIKMS for his keen interest and tireless effort to conduct such programmes in the state, it said.

“He was all praise for the participants for their punctuality and dedication and assured that he would act as an ambassador for the state in his circles to come up with more and more such programmes for not only JKIMS, but other institutions of the state as well. The soil is very fertile but the plants need nourishment, a little rain and harvests shall wave at last.” he said.

He suggested the students that they should join the MTTS programmes conducted by other Institutions in the country and advised them to share whatever they have learnt during this programme.

“The participants were very enthusiastic about the programme and were optimistic about the conduct of such programmes in J&K in future also.”

Director JKIMS Professor Wali Mohammad Shah thanked Professor Kumarasen, the Director of MTTS Programme, the resource persons and the participants, besides the Principal of A.S College and S.P College for helping JKIMS to conduct this programme successfully. He also thanked Director NIT for providing the hostel facility to the participants, the statement added.
