SRINAGAR: An Army soldier was killed on Wednesday evening when a Tata Tiago car (registration JK14G-5411) fell from the Sawni Link Road onto the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) near Dalwas in Ramban district.
According to official sources, the car was travelling towards Sawni village via the link road from NH-44 when it plunged over 200 feet onto the highway.
Station House Officer (SHO) Chanderkoot, Jatinder Singh Rakwal, told Greater Kashmir that police rushed to the spot soon after the incident. The driver died on impact, and the body was later shifted to District Hospital Ramban for medico-legal formalities.
The deceased was identified as Sohan Singh, son of Bihari Lal, a resident of Madda, Tehsil Chenani, District Udhampur. He was about 35 years old and serving in the Indian Army, the SHO added.
