A youth from north Kashmir’s Kupwara dies after he was beaten up by a group of people in Jaipur area of Rajhastan.

Sources said that an 18-year-old youth locally identified as Ghulam Mohi-u Din Khan son of Late Khursheed Ahmad Khan, a resident of Kunan village of Kupwara district was critically injured after allegedly beaten by some youth during an event in Jaipur.

According to hospital records in Jaipur he has been identified as Basit Ahmad Khan.

“Basit was working with a local event management company. On February 5, while working in an event, boys from another event management company from Mumbai entered the party and beat this boy,” he said.

Basit was soon shifted to Sawai Mann Singh hospital Jaipur where doctors operated upon him but he succumbed on the operation table.

The youth was working with a local event management’s company’s catering wing. He had left home a few months ago to take up the job in Rajasthan.

The deceased youth was the son of an army soldier, who has died a few years back. A member of the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI) regiment, Khursheed was on leave at home in 2012, when he had a sudden death.

The deceased is survived by his mother, brother and five sisters.

An official from Jaipur told Kashmir Life that they have registered a case and arrested one person identified as Aditya.

He said that after all legal and medical formalities the body of the deceased has been sent over to Kashmir in an ambulance.

Despite repeated attempts, Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Anshul Garg could not be contacted in this regard as he didn’t respond to the repeated phone calls by this reporter.

 Meanwhile, the natives of Kunan village staged a protest demanding stringent punishment to the killers.
