SRINAGAR: In solidarity with the protesting NHM professionals, , the paramedical and other medical staff across Kashmir on Wednesday wore black bands to, Doctors Association on Kashmir said in a statement issued here.

The symbolic protest by DAK was organized for highlighting the grave issues raised by NHM employees for their redressal and as a mark of resentment against the manhandling of NHM employees at press enclave, the statement added.

An Executive Member of DAK said that Doctors and Paramedics from major city hospitals along with other peripheral health institutes took part and raised their concern about the grievances of NHM employees. The medical students of GMC Srinagar also took part and condemned the manhandling of doctors and paramedics.

Senior Executive Member of DAK said that it is quite deplorable that Doctors, Paramedics and other supportive staff have to come on roads in demand for their rights which otherwise should have been resolved on its own as a policy matter.

A Spokesperson of DAK said that the association will soon organize a meeting of Central Executive and District Head Members so that future course of action is sorted out as the regular staff is extremely overburdened and taxed due to unavailability of NHM employees which is creating a huge dent in delivering health care services.
