In a shocking incident of its kind, a 14-year-old boy and his mother died of electrocution at Melyal area in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday evening.
A police official told GNS that both the son and mother came in contact with a live wire while they were heading towards their home.
The duo sustained critical injuries in the incident and were immediately shifted to the nearby hospital where doctors declared them brought dead, the official said.
The official identified the deceased as Rafiq Hafiz Katari son of Mamdin and her mother Reshma Jaan of Katari Mohalla Awatkul in Milyal village.
Meanwhile, police has registered a case and started further investigations in this regard, the official said, adding that after conducting all the legal formalities police handed over the bodies to their relatives for last rites.
