Amid speculations of High Command taking action against the tainted congress leaders in Jammu and Kashmir, AICC President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi Wednesday said efforts were on to plug the loopholes and put an end to the ‘factionalism’ in Jammu and Kashmir congress and said that Party Corridors in New Delhi were ready to extend every possible help for the development of the state.

Sources in the Congress told a local news agency, KNS that Sonia Gandhi expressed her views in a meeting with a group of senior Congress leaders from Jammu and Kashmir during a meeting at her residence Wednesday afternoon.

The group met her at 10 Janpath residence at 4.30 PM for nearly half an hour. The meeting according to sources took place after these leaders were camping in New Delhi for more than a week.

Meanwhile according to sources, the leaders expressed their displeasure on the growing factionalism in the state Congress and urged Gandhi to put an end to the lobbyism so that the party could be strengthened in the state.

“We are not favoring any of the group, but the Congress, but the controversies and the spurious drug scam has dented the party’s image in the state which needs to be addressed at an earliest”, sources quoted the group as having told Gandhi.

In the meantime, one of the members of the group Ab Gani Khan told KNS that the leaders expressed their displeasure about the growing factionalism in state congress to Sonia Gandhi.

“We told her that we have to go to people therefore we should put up a united face. The spurious drug scam, Factionalism and other such things would make difficult for us to face the people”, Khan claimed to have told Sonia Gandhi. They also extended their greeting to party high command for victory in Karnataka Polls.
