A civilian identified as Umar Subhan 22, of Warpora has succumbed to injuries he sustained in an attack on by unknown gunmen in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday late night.

Earlier, a Special Police Officer (SPO) of Jammu and Kashmir Police identified as Wajahat Ahmad Bhat son of Asadullah Bhat of Wagoora Kreeri was killed while another cop and a civilian were injured after unknown gunmen opened fire on them at Warpora area of Sopore.

An official said that a civilian has succumbed, taking the death toll to two.

A Special Police Officer (SPO) of Jammu and Kashmir Police identified as Showkat Ahmad Khanday of Wagoora Kreeri sustained bullet wounds and have been hospitalised, said an official.

A health official in Sub-district hospital told The Indian Express that two people were brought dead to the hospital. “The third one is receiving treatment and is stable,” said the official.

Soon after the attack, the area was cordoned and a manhunt was launched to nab the attackers.
