Apple town of north Kashmir, Sopore remained under siege for the fourth consecutive day, Friday.

Locals said that the roads leading to Sopore and inside the town have been sealed with concertina wires. A large number of men in uniform are implementing what locals call “undeclared curfew”.

“Curfew like situation is prevailing here as we are not being allowed to move out of our homes,” a local said, adding, “Though no declaration of curfew was made.”

Pertinently, curfew was imposed in the area after Arshad Ahmad Shah, a civilian was killed at the site of an encounter hours after forces killed a foreign militant last Monday.

Reports said that curfew was relaxed on Thursday for some time but protests erupted late in the day resulting in the fresh restriction.
