A wreath laying ceremony was held in District Police Lines Srinagar where according to police spokesman tributes were paid to the slain constable Mohammad Shafi who lost his life in a gunfight which erupted in Yemberzal Wadi of Marval forests in Zaloora area of Sopore town in the wee hours of Tuesday.
According to the police spokesman, Director General of Police K. Rajendra Kumar led the police personnel in the wreath laying ceremony which was attended among others by Special DG law and order and coordination S.P Vaid, IGP Armed/IRP Sunil Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Baseer Ahmad Khan and other officers and family members of the slain policeman.
The body was later on handed over to his next of kins for last rites.
Spokesman ads that Shafi is survived by wife, three brothers two of them are under studies and old aged parents.
