After scanning the encounter site which led to killing of two militants in North Kashmir’s Sopore, police identified the duo as Parvez Ahmad Wani and Nayeem Ahmad Najar. Earlier it was reported that second militant was Ashiq Hussain of Andergam Pattan

Parvez alias Ishfaq as well as Mubashir was a resident of Galoora Handwara.

Categorized as A++ militant, Parvez, SP Sopore Harmeet Singh said was handling North Kashmir operations after the Qayoom Najar had differences with the outfit. “Actual HM was represented by Parvez after there Qayoom Najar was made defunct by the outfit,” SP told to Kashmir Life.

A militant from last seven years, Parvez police said was involved in many ‘subversive activities’ and was mounting in Srinagar as well.

Nayeem Ahmad, a resident of Brath Kalan Sopore, SP Singh said was active from last two years.

Police has handed over the bodies of slain militanst to the respective families.

The encounter started during early hours at Chak-e-Brat village that falls in the Shankargund Brat belt when police started searching the area.

Police said they have clear information about the militants. The house belonging to Peerzada Bashir Ahmad Shah went up into smoke during the encounter.

Authorities have snapped mobile internet in the entire belt and the police and paramilitary has been deployed to prevent escalation of the tensions.
