Following the mysterious killings in North Kashmir’s Sopore areas, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have put up posters of ‘ 2 wanted militants’ in Baramulla district.

Witnesses said that early Tuesday morning, people found posters with photographs of militants and bounties of Rs Ten Lakh for those who give their whereabouts.

The posters give demographic details of militants who police claim are locals.

“Imtiyaz Ahmad Kandroo, affiliated with Hizbul Mujahideen, s/o Abdul Khaliq Kandroo, r/o Kralteng Sopore, District Baramulla,” reads one poster. The police claim also details the involvement of militants of in various incidents, adding, “Reward of Rs 1000000.” And the other poster mentions Abdul Qayoom Najar as another militant of Hizbul Mujahideen.

Local sources said that the district is observing a complete shutdown while stones pelting incidents have taken place in the area.

Police claim ‘breakaway faction’ of the Hizbul Mujahideen militant group is responsible for the recent killings in North Kashmir’s Sopore town. Police have erected Nakka at multiple places in Sopore.

“It is the same group that had tried to disrupt telecom operations in and around Sopore areas earlier,” DIG JKP North Kashmir, Gareeb Das said.

“Lashkar-e-Islam is a split group of Hizbul Mujahideen and we have vital clues that the killings of former militants in Sopore have been carried out by this group.” “These are reprisal killings,” he added.

CM Mufti Muhammad Sayeed Monday ordered enquiry in to the killings so that the fear among the people in Sopore town is removed.
