Sopore Police Arrest Absconder Evading Arrest for 12 Years

   

SRINAGAR: Police in Sopore have arrested an absconder who had been evading arrest since 2012. Additionally, authorities have attached properties belonging to proclaimed offenders involved in a long-pending criminal case.

The arrested individual, identified as Nayeem Ahmad War, son of Nazir Ahmad War and a resident of Warpora Sopore, was wanted in connection with FIR No. 190/2012 under Sections 454 and 380 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) at Police Station Sopore. A warrant had been issued against him by the Hon’ble Court Sopore, and he had successfully evaded law enforcement for over 12 years. Following his arrest, he was presented before the court and has been remanded to judicial custody until February 25, 2025.

Meanwhile, in a separate action, police have attached 4 kanals and 2 marlas of orchard land belonging to proclaimed offenders Afroz Ahmad War, son of Mohammad Maqbool War, and Maqsood Ahmad War, son of Sona-u-llah War, both residents of Warpora Sopore. The attachment, executed under Sections 82 and 83 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), was carried out in connection with FIR No. 28/2008, registered under Sections 2/3 of the Enemy Agents Ordinance (EMCO), 120B and 121 of the IPC, and the Arms Act.

The action was undertaken by a joint team of police and revenue officials after receiving approval from the competent authority. Police officials stated that the move marks a significant step in investigating subversive activities in the region and reinforces their commitment to maintaining peace and security.

Jammu and Kashmir Police reiterated their resolve to track down absconders and those involved in unlawful activities, ensuring that justice is served.
