Srinagar

Residents of Saidpora village in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday staged a protest against the scarcity of drinking water in the area.

The protesting villagers said that the area is suffering from a shortage of drinking water for the past several years. They blamed the authorities at Public health engineering (PHE) department for not being able to provide clean and adequate water supply to the village.

“Despite repeated requests to the concerned authorities, we all are being forced to use contaminated water,” said one of the resident.

They said they have approached the authorities several times but no action has been taken so far in this matter. They also appealed to the higher authorities and the governor Satya Pal Malik to look into the issue and put an end to this problem.
