South Kashmir: Medical Shop Sealed, 4,960 Pregabalin Tablets Seized

   

SRINAGAR: The Drug Controller in Shopian, South Kashmir, today sealed a medical shop for violating the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and State Drug Controller regulations on prescription drug management.

Acting on information from Shopian Police, a team from the Drug Control Department conducted a surprise inspection and found serious discrepancies in the pharmacy’s records. Officials seized 4,960 pregabalin tablets, which exceeded the legally permissible limit.

The large quantity has raised concerns over potential illegal use and diversion of the controlled substance, which is strictly regulated due to its high potential for abuse.

Authorities confirmed that a detailed investigation is underway to trace the origin of the seized stock and identify all individuals involved in its procurement and distribution.

The joint operation by Shopian Police and the Drug Control Department demonstrates increased vigilance to prevent prescription drug misuse and safeguard public health in the district.
