SRINAGAR: Police in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday arrested two alleged drug peddlers in separate naka-checking operations and recovered charas-like substances from their possession, officials said.
At Sarnal Chowk, a police team from Police Post Sherbagh intercepted and arrested Danish Ahmad Shah, son of Abdul Rahim Shah and a resident of Khanawari, Mattan. Police said 1.38 kg of a powder-like substance resembling charas was recovered during his personal search.
In a separate operation, a naka party from Police Post General Bus Stand apprehended Mehraj Iqbal Bhat, son of Mohd Iqbal Bhat and a resident of Khanabal, at Tarbal Chee Bridge. Police said 7.25 grams of a substance resembling charas was recovered from him.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at the respective police stations, and further investigation has been initiated, police said.
Police said it would continue action against the illicit trade and trafficking of narcotic substances.
