SRINAGAR: Police in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district registered six separate cases on Wednesday after six individuals tested positive for drug consumption during routine checks.
Acting on specific inputs and routine inspections, police teams across the district detained the individuals under suspicious circumstances and subjected them to medical examination using Rapid Drug Detection Kits. All six test results confirmed the presence of narcotic substances.
Following the confirmation, six FIRs have been registered under Section 8/27 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at respective police stations. Further investigation is underway in each case.
Police said the action is part of its ongoing drive against drug abuse and illicit trafficking in the district, with a stated focus on identifying both users and suppliers involved in narcotics-related offences.
Anantnag Police reiterated its zero-tolerance approach towards drug abuse and appealed to the public to share credible information regarding drug peddling or substance abuse, assuring confidentiality of informants.
