South Kashmir: Police Nab Hit-and-Run Accused, Seize Vehicle

   

SRINAGAR: Police in South kashmir’s Kulgam district have arrested a man in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident and recovered the vehicle used in the crime.

The case dates back to November 7, 2025, when Police Station Kulgam received information about a road accident near Town Hall Kulgam. An unidentified motorcyclist struck pedestrian Nazir Ahmad Shah, son of Ghulam Mohd Shah, a resident of Khandipora. The injured man was initially admitted to District Hospital Kulgam and later referred to Srinagar for specialised treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries.

A case was registered under FIR No. 122/2025, and an investigation was launched immediately. A police team, led by the SHO of Police Station Kulgam and supervised by DySP HQRS Kulgam, used modern investigative tools including CCTV footage from multiple locations to identify the vehicle and driver involved.

After thorough examination, the accused was identified as Abrar Tariq, son of Tariq Ahmad Lone, resident of Kanipora. The motorcycle involved in the incident, a Bullet bearing registration number JK18C-1643, has been seized.

Jammu Kashmir Police said the action underscores their commitment to take strict measures against criminal acts to ensure public safety and security.
