South Kashmir: Police Recover Illegally Extracted Sand

   

SRINAGAR: Police in Pulwama district of South Kashmir on Monday recovered a substantial quantity of illegally extracted sand during a joint inspection in the Hassanwani area. Authorities suspect that the sand was illegally taken from Nallah Romshi.

The action was carried out as part of an ongoing drive against illegal mining, with police coordinating with the District Mineral Officer and his team to verify reports of unauthorized extraction in the area.

During the inspection, the recovered material was examined on the spot and confirmed to be illegally mined, prompting initiation of legal action under relevant provisions of law.

Authorities said further enquiry has been taken up to identify the persons involved in the illegal activity.

The joint action forms part of continued enforcement efforts aimed at curbing illegal mining practices and ensuring compliance with regulatory norms in the district. [KNT]
