SRINAGAR

Catastrophic flood waters have ravaged Aaligund, a hamlet in Tral town of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district completely. All the 25 families of the village have migrated to safer places after their residential houses were washed away by the floods.

“We lost everything. We are finished. From past 25 days we have been spending days and nights in temporary tents while government has provided us no relief,” Ghulam Ahmed Mir, an aged resident of the hamlet told a local news agency, CNS.

He said that speedy waters in Chandri Nallah washed away all houses in the area. “The gushing waters entered into the village during the dead of the night as a result we failed to save our cattle. Not a single official from the administration visited here. Our children are sick and we are dying of starvation,” he said adding that they have been surviving on the relief providing by the local population.

When contacted a senior government official told CNS that they have already assessed the loss suffered by these people and they would surely help them to come out from this trauma.
