Pradesh Congress Committee president Prof Saif-u-Din Soz on Monday called on UPA chairperson and Congress president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi and discussed matters pertaining to the pre-poll alliance and the creation of new administrative units in the state, informed sources said.

Pertinently, Soz met Sonia, six days after the chief minister Omar Abdullah had met her in New Delhi and discussed wide range of issues including functioning of the coalition government in the state.

Sources revealed that during his meeting, J&K PCC chief apprised Sonia about the urgency shown by the chief minister Omar Abdullah on creation of new administrative units across the state. Soz reportedly briefed Sonia about the possible outcomes of the creation of new administrative units for Congress as well as the National Conference.

 Sources said that the PCC chief has also conveyed the opinion to Sonia about the Congress cadres and grass root level workers vis-à-vis forging a pre poll alliance with National Conference for the forthcoming parliamentary elections in the state
