Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) on the instructions of Commissioner Dr Qasba,  launched a two day special sanitation drive through the route leading to  Shankar Acharya Temple hills on Monday.

“Huge quantity of garbage and trash scattered from security barriers (Nehru Park) up to the temple was collected and taken to the land fill dumping site,” a statement said adding large number of sanitation staff and garbage collecting vehicles were deputed for the purpose.

 The SMC has also restarted supplying of drinking water through departmental water tankers to the tanks situated near Shankar Acharya temple. The statement said.

 The drive was supervised by Aijaz Hakim and Ward Officer of the area, Nazir Ahmad Baba, who  have  been directed to keep up to mark  sanitation of the hill roads amid heavy rush of tourists visiting the temple.
