An SPO and his minor son were injured after unknown gunmen opened fire upon them at Hanjin village of Kralgund in Handwara area of Kupwara district Friday evening.
Police officials confirmed the incident and said that suspected militants fired upon SPO Altaf Ahmad Khan and in this incident Altaf’s 11 year old son Waqif Altaf was also injured.
Both the son father duo has been shifted to SKIMS, Soura for specialized treatment, the SDPO said.
Local sources said that suspected militants barged into the house of Altaf and opened fire indiscriminately injuring Khan and his son.
