KL Report

SRINAGAR

State Human Rights Commission Wednesday castigated Commissioner Secretary to Health Department, Director Health Services Jammu and Superintendent G.B.Panth Hospital Srinagar for not filing their respective reports before the Commission on spurious drug scam.

Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Forum through its General Secretary M.M.Shuja had filed a petition before SHRC on spurious drug scam in April this year. The Commission had asked the officers of the concerned departments to file their status report on this grave issue.

SHRC, single bench on Wednesday during the hearing of the case said that Commissioner Secretary to Health Department, Director Health Services Jammu and Superintendent G.B.Panth Hospital Srinagar have not filed their respective reports.

Castigating these officials, the Commission said if they failed to submit their report before the Commission by or before next hearing, the Commission will be  constrained to resort to coercive measures.

“The matter is very serious and nature and nobody can be allowed to sit over the same and play with the lives of public in general and patients in particular. The supply of spurious drugs needs a proper and thorough probe and guilty needs to be brought to book because their vested interests have exposed the lives of so many innocent patients and particularly infants in G.B. Panth Hospital to extreme peril,” the Commission said.

The Commission directed all the aforementioned officials to submit their respective reports positively by or before the next date failing which the Commission will be constrained to resort to coercive measures.

The case has been listed for next hearing on October 10.
