Strike called by Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani against the spurious drug trade in Kashmir evoked mixed response on Saturday.

The shops, business establishments and schools in the valley are closed and the public transport is off the roads though private transport is plying but the banks are functioning normally and the government offices are open.

Geelani had called for a general strike to protest against the spurious drugs scandal.

Geelani has also demanded registration of a case against ex health minister of the state and the officials incharge of procuring drugs for government hospitals.

The reports of shutdown have reached from all the district headquarters in north, south and central Kashmir.
