Srinagar Admin Orders Evacuation in Low-Lying Areas After Shalina Breach

   

SRINAGAR: Authorities in Srinagar have asked residents of several low-lying areas to evacuate immediately after a breach was reported at Shalina in Budgam on Thursday.

The district administration said that as a pre-emptive and precautionary measure, people living in Lasjan, Soiteng, Nowgam, Vyethpora, Golpora, Padshahibagh, and Mehjoornagar should move to safer locations.

Officials said designated nodal officers have been deployed at various relief centres, while overall coordination is being handled by the district administration and the Srinagar Municipal Corporation. The details of officers and centres have been made public for residents to seek assistance.

Authorities added that announcements have already been made through local committees, Masjids, and by revenue and police personnel to ensure timely evacuation.

Meanwhile, the administration appealed to people in affected areas to remain alert but avoid panic.
