SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday issued following statement regarding Srinagar attack saying that today at about 1206hrs Srinagar police received information about a crime incident at Sazgaripora Hawal area of Srinagar where militants had fired upon a police party. Senior police officers reached at the crime spot.
A police spokesman in a statement said that preliminary investigation has revealed that militants fired upon a police party of Police Station Zadibal at Sazgaripora Hawal.
The spokesman said that in this incident, one police personnel identified as Farooq Ahmad Chopan and a civilian identified as Muneer Ahmad Misger resident of Safakadal sustained bullet injuries.
“The injured have been shifted to nearby hospital for the treatment,” said the spokesman.
“Police has registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of law. Investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the circumstances which lead to this crime,” he said.
“Area has been cordoned off and search in the area is going on,” said the spokesman.
