Officials said a running fire call was received at the State Fire Control Room in Batamaloo, prompting an immediate response from Fire Station Rainawari. Owing to the congested locality, additional teams were deployed from multiple city fire stations to assist in the operation.

Firefighters found two adjoining three-storey residential-cum-commercial buildings, arranged in an L-shaped layout, fully engulfed, along with a nearby single-storey structure housing a shop. A parked scooty was also damaged.

After several hours of sustained firefighting under difficult conditions, the flames were brought under control, preventing the fire from spreading to adjacent properties in the densely populated neighbourhood.

Authorities reported severe damage to the upper portions of both multi-storey buildings, with shops including electrical, steel trunk, grocery and vegetable outlets suffering major losses. A single-storey building housing a bread-making unit was also extensively damaged.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No casualties were reported.
