SRINAGAR: The 280-km-long Srinagar-Jammu national highway, connecting Kashmir valley with the rest of the country was closed for traffic on Monday due to shooting stones triggered by rains at Ramban area and snowfall at Banihal.

A traffic police official said that Kashmir highway was closed due to shooting stones at Ramban and adjoining areas, triggered by incessant rains and snow.

“The traffic movement will be allowed after the road is cleared,” he said, adding that men and machinery have been pressed into the service to clear the road.
