SRINAGAR: Despite the fresh snowfall in the valley, Srinagar-Jammu highway remained open for one-way traffic on Monday.

An official said that hundreds of vehicles carrying passengers left Kashmir for Jammu.

He said there was a landslide in Banihal area affecting normal traffic movement on the highway this morning.

However, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) immediately pressed into service machines and men and later put through the highway again, he said.

Notably, only one-way traffic is allowed on the highway as the bridge was damaged at Ramban, where only one vehicle could pass at a time.

Meanwhile, the Mughal road connecting Shopian in south Kashmir with Poonch in Jammu region remained closed for the past few months.

Srinagar-Leh highway is closed by the J&K Government vide  Divisional Commissioner Kashmir’s order No. 400/2020 dated 30-12-2020 till further orders.
