SRINAGAR

Despite MeT department forecasting heavy rainfall and thunderstorms till late Monday, Srinagar-Jammu highway remained open for one-way traffic on Monday.

Hundreds of vehicles, including those carrying passengers and empty trucks and oil tankers left Kashmir for Jammu.

No vehicle, however, was allowed from Jammu.

Notably, only one-way traffic is allowed on the highway for the past four months as the road was damaged at several places, where only one vehicle could pass at a time.

Meanwhile, the Mughal road connecting Shopian in south Kashmir with Poonch in Jammu region remained closed for the past three months.
