SRINAGAR: Srinagar-Jammu highway was partially opened for vehicular Traffic and the stranded vehicles were allowed to move towards their destinations, an official said.

Official sources of the Traffic Police department told Kashmir Life that traffic on the highway was resumed after authorities cleared the debris and made it motorable.

The highway was closed on Monday after heavy rains triggered multiple landslides at Ramban.

Around 300 vehicles were stranded on the highway between Nashri and Chanderkote since Monday night.

However, traffic and NHAI authorities worked overnight and the majority of the stranded vehicles in Ramban were cleared.

The historic Mughal Road and SSG Road is closed due to snow accumulation, reads the advisory issued by the traffic department.

It said that the Srinagar-Leh highway is closed by the J&K Government vide Divisional Commissioner Kashmir’s order No. 400/2020 dated 30-12-2020 till further orders.

People have been advised not to travel on the highway without confirming the status of the road from phone numbers Jammu (0191-2459048, 9419147732), Srinagar (0194-2450022, 2485396,18001807091), Ramban (9419993745) and Udhampur (8491928625).
