SRINAGAR: Traffic department authorities on Sunday said that on Monday subject to fair weather and better road conditions only stranded light motor vehicles (passenger) and private cars shall be allowed from Jammu towards Srinagar on the highway.

The traffic department in an advisory said TCU Jammu shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the traffic.

It also said that commuters are advised not to travel on Jammu-Srinagar NHW without confirming the status of the road from TCU Jammu/Ramban/Srinagar.

The traffic department in an advisory said LMVs will have to cross Nagrota (Jammu) from 09: 00 hrs to 12:00 hrs and Jakheni (Udhampur) from 10:00 hrs to 1300 hrs.

“No Vehicle shall be allowed after cut off timing,” it said.

“Subject to fair weather and better road condition, HMVs shall be allowed from Jakheni (Udhampur) towards Srinagar after the tail of up LMVs crosses Jakheni. TCU Udhampur shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the HMVs,” it added.

“Government Forces are advised/requested not to ply against advisory/traffic plan in view of traffic congestion on Jammu-Srinagar highway. They may ply from Jammu towards Srinagar after confirming the status of highway,” it reads.

Mughal Road, Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri Road and Kishtwar-Sinthan Road were closed for vehicular movement in view of snow accumulation by the Administration.

People have been advised not to travel on the highway without confirming the status of the road from phone numbers Jammu (0191-2459048, 9419147732), Srinagar (0194-2450022, 2485396,18001807091), Ramban (9419993745), Udhampur (8491928625) and PCR Kishtwar (9906154100) for the status of Sinthan Road.
