SRINAGAR: Traffic department authorities on Sunday said that on Monday subject to fair weather and better road condition light motor vehicles shall be allowed from Srinagar towards Jammu.

The traffic department in an advisory said no vehicle shall be allowed in the opposite direction.

“The weight-bearing capacity of installed bailey bridge is less than 40 metric ton,” reads the advisory.

“LMVs will have to cross Srinagar from 12:00 pm to 03:00 pm and Zig Qazigund from 1:00 pm to 04:00 pm and no Vehicle shall be allowed after cut off timing,” it said.

It said that only stranded heavy motor vehicles between Nashree and Banihal shall be allowed towards Srinagar.

“Government Forces are advised/requested not to ply against advisory/traffic plan in view of traffic congestion on Jammu-Srinagar NHW and narrowness of Bailey bridge. They may ply from Jammu towards Srinagar after confirming the status of highway,” it added.

“On 04-02-2021 Thursday, there shall be no traffic movement on Jammu-Srinagar NHW from either side in view of maintenance/repairing of the NHW,” reads the advisory.

The historic Mughal Road and SSG Road is closed due to snow accumulation, reads the advisory.

It said that Srinagar-Leh highway is closed by the J&K Government vide  Divisional Commissioner Kashmir’s order No. 400/2020 dated 30-12-2020 till further orders.

People have been advised not to travel on the highway without confirming the status of the road from phone numbers Jammu (0191-2459048, 9419147732), Srinagar (0194-2450022, 2485396,18001807091), Ramban (9419993745) and Udhampur (8491928625).
