SRINAGAR: Traffic department authorities on Sunday said that on Wednesday subject to fair weather and better road condition only stranded vehicles in Udhampur jurisdiction shall be allowed towards Srinagar including Ramban-Banihal (local traffic).

The traffic department in an advisory said no vehicle shall be allowed in the opposite direction.

“The weight-bearing capacity of installed bailey bridge is less than 40 metric ton,” reads the advisory.

“Government Forces are advised/requested not to ply against advisory/traffic plan in view of traffic congestion on Jammu-Srinagar NHW and narrowness of Bailey bridge. They may ply from Jammu towards Srinagar after confirming the status of highway,” reads the advisory.

“On 22-1-2021 Friday, there shall be no traffic movement on Jammu-Srinagar NHW from either side in view of maintenance/repairing of the NHW,” it added.

The historic Mughal Road and SSG Road is closed due to snow accumulation, reads the advisory.

It said that Srinagar-Leh highway is closed by the J&K Government vide  Divisional Commissioner Kashmir’s order No. 400/2020 dated 30-12-2020 till further orders.

People have been advised not to travel on the highway without confirming the status of the road from phone numbers Jammu (0191-2459048, 9419147732), Srinagar (0194-2450022, 2485396,18001807091), Ramban (9419993745) and Udhampur (8491928625).
