SRINAGAR: Traffic department authorities on Monday said that on Tuesday subject to fair weather and better road condition only one-way traffic shall be allowed from Jammu towards Srinagar including Ramban-Banihal (local traffic) on Jammu-Srinagar highway.
The traffic department in an advisory said no vehicle including livestock and fresh perishables shall be allowed in the opposite direction. TCU Jammu shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the traffic.
“The weight-bearing capacity of installed bailey bridge is less than 40 metric ton,” reads the advisory.
The traffic department in an advisory said LMVs will have to cross Nagrota (Jammu) from 0800 hrs to 1200 hrs and Jakheni (Udhampur) from 0900 hrs to 1300 hrs.
“No Vehicle shall be allowed after cut off timing,” it said.
“Heavy motor vehicles shall be allowed from Jakheni (Udhampur) towards Srinagar after the ligh motor vehicles,” reads the advisory.
“Government Forces are advised/requested not to ply against advisory/traffic plan in view of traffic congestion on Jammu-Srinagar NHW and narrowness of Bailey bridge. They may ply from Jammu towards Srinagar after confirming the status of highway,” it reads.
“On 04-02-2021 Thursday, there shall be no traffic movement on Jammu-Srinagar NHW from either side in view of maintenance/repairing of the highway,” it added.
The historic Mughal Road and SSG Road is closed due to snow accumulation, reads the advisory.
It said that Srinagar-Leh highway is closed by the J&K Government vide Divisional Commissioner Kashmir’s order No. 400/2020 dated 30-12-2020 till further orders.
People have been advised not to travel on the highway without confirming the status of the road from phone numbers Jammu (0191-2459048, 9419147732), Srinagar (0194-2450022, 2485396,18001807091), Ramban (9419993745) and Udhampur (8491928625).
