SRINAGAR: Traffic department authorities on Saturday said that on Sunday subject to fair weather and better road condition only light motor vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar highway viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.
The traffic department in an advisory said TCU Jammu, Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the traffic.
According to advisory LMVs will have to cross Nagrota (Jammu) from 05: 00 hrs to 12:00 hrs and Jakheni (Udhampur) from 0600 hrs to 1300 hrs and from Zig Qazigund 1000 hrs to 1300 hrs.
“No Vehicle shall be allowed after cut off timing,” it said.
“Only stranded heavy motor vehicles between Nashree and Ramban shall be allowed towards Srinagar,” it added.
“Government Forces are advised/requested not to ply against advisory/traffic plan in view of traffic congestion on Jammu-Srinagar highway. They may ply from Jammu towards Srinagar after confirming the status of highway,” it reads.
The historic Mughal Road and SSG Road is closed due to snow accumulation, reads the advisory.
It said that the Srinagar-Leh highway is closed by the J&K Government vide Divisional Commissioner Kashmir’s order No. 400/2020 dated 30-12-2020 till further orders.
People have been advised not to travel on the highway without confirming the status of the road from phone numbers Jammu (0191-2459048, 9419147732), Srinagar (0194-2450022, 2485396,18001807091), Ramban (9419993745) and Udhampur (8491928625).
