SRINAGAR: Traffic department authorities on Sunday said that in wake of fair weather and road condition light motor vehicles (Passenger) would be allowed to travel from Srinagar towards Jammu in a regulated manner on Monday, December 27.

According to the advisory of the traffic department, commuters are advised to follow the SOP issued by the government to prevent the spread of Covid 19.

The traffic department in an advisory said LMVs will have to cross Zig Qazigund from 07:00 am to 12:00 am and no Vehicle shall be allowed after cut off timing.

“Heavy motor vehicles shall be allowed from Jakheni (Udhampur) towards Srinagar after. However fresh perishable carriers/Oil tankers shall be allowed in the opposite direction subject to the traffic situation,” reads the advisory.

“Government Forces are advised/requested not to ply against advisory/traffic plan in view of traffic congestion on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. They may ply from Jammu towards Srinagar,” it reads.

“On Friday, there shall be no traffic movement on Jammu-Srinagar NHW from either side in view of maintenance/repairing of the NHW,” it added.

The historic Mughal Road is closed due to snow accumulation, reads the advisory.

According to advisory in view of fair weather, only one-way traffic from Srinagar towards Kargil shall be allowed on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari road.

People have been advised to undertake the journey on the highway only after confirming the status of the road from phone numbers Jammu (0191-2459048, 9419147732), Srinagar (0194-2450022, 2485396,18001807091), Ramban (9419993745) and Udhampur(8491928625).
