The Srinagar-Leh highway was temporarily closed for traffic on Thursday due to landslides at several places, triggered by rains.

Reports said that traffic on Srinagar-Leh road has been closed due to landslides at different places near Zojila pass.

They said that a large number of vehicles including those carrying essentials for Ladakh region were stranded on both sides of the highway.

“The Border Roads Organisation pressed in service its men and machines and launched clearance operation to reopen the road for traffic,” a police official told Kashmir Life.

He said that nearly 150 passengers mostly tourists who were stranded on the highway were rescued.
