Srinagar

The strategic 434Km Srinagar-Leh highway was re-opened for vehicular traffic on Thursday after remaining closed since last evening due to landslides.

A minor was killed after being hit by shooting stone at Zojila on the Ladakh highway yesterday.

An official said traffic was suspended yesterday due to landslides. However, Border Roads Organisation (BRO), responsible for the maintenance of the highway immediately put into service sophisticated machines and men and put through the highway.

“Vehicles were allowed from Leh to Srinagar,” he said, adding later in the afternoon, vehicles will be allowed from Srinagar to another side of the Zojila pass.
