The strategic 434Km Srinagar-Leh highway was re-opened for vehicular traffic on Thursday after remaining closed for three consecutive days due to landslides at Shaitani Nallah Meenmarg.

The highway was closed on Tuesday due to landslides at Shaitani Nallah Meenmarg following which the road was closed as a precautionary measure.

An official said that traffic has been allowed to move on the 434-kilometre highway. While several light motor vehicles and trucks from Sonamarg  side were also allowed towards Kargil.

The official added that hundreds of light motor vehicles and trucks from Sonamarg side were also allowed to move towards Kathi.
