SRINAGAR : A 60-year-old man from Srinagar drowned while fishing in the Jhelum River in the Bijbehara area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday, officials said.
The deceased was identifed as Farooq Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Aziz Dar, a resident of Banpora, Batamaloo, Srinagar.
Officials said Dar had gone fishing in the Jhelum at Khasiteng Zirpara in Bijbehara when he drowned.
His body was later recovered from the river by police with the assistance of locals and shifted to a hospital for medico-legal formalities.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident. (GNS)
