SRINAGAR: In a major recognition, the Srinagar District has been ranked as the top-performing district under Jal Jeevan Survekshan (JJS-2023) among 135 Har Ghar Jal Certified Villages across the country in the implementation of the flagship program of the central government, the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).

The Srinagar District has achieved the top rank in the implementation of JJM by scoring 100 percent marks under the set parameters and indicators of JJS-2023. It has also completed 10,407 FHTCs (Functional Household Tap Connections) in 29 villages of the district, corresponding to the targeted 10,407 households.

Jal Jeevan Survekshan (JJS 2022) is an evaluation methodology introduced by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India on October 2, 2022, to assess districts/states based on their performance in the implementation of JJM. It ranks them at the national level on a monthly basis.

Under this competition, District Srinagar has made remarkable progress in Har Ghar Jal Certification, Water Quality Testing through labs and FTKs (Field Test Kits), training women to use FTKs, and skill training for O&M (Operation and Maintenance) staff across India in recent months. As a result, it has improved its rank from 46 to Rank 1 as of May 25, 2023.

Commenting on this achievement, the Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, expressed pride in the moment for Srinagar District, which was accomplished through collective efforts of the team.

The Deputy Commissioner also congratulated the JJM team and urged them to continue working with increased zeal and dedication to maintain the top rank in JJS. (KNO)
