Scores of the students of National Institute of Technology (NIT) Hazratbal, Srinagar on Thursday staged a protest demonstration against the killing of four civilians in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

An eyewitness said that scores of local students assembled in the premises of the institute and shouted anti-government and pro-freedom slogans to protest against the civilian killings.

“Our main gate has been locked and we all are protesting inside the college premises,” said a student wishing anonymity.

Earlier, on Wednesday protests were reported from various educational institutes of Kashmir to condemn the killing of four civilians.

Four civilians were killed and over 50 were injured during the clashes near encounter site in Khudwani village of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

The protest was going on when this report was being filed.
